Advent & Christmas Services 2017

Another year has slipped by.  Once again the season of Advent is here and Christmas is now less than two weeks away.  For some, the days seem to drag on and on.  For others they disappear so fast it’s like being on a never ending roller coaster.  Whatever your situation, it’s important that you halt for a moment and ask yourself, “Where am I headed?”  Advent reminds us that God’s Son, Jesus Christ, came into this world a little over two thousand years ago.  That was His first “Advent” or “Coming”.  The Bible tells us He came in order to save us from our sins (1 Timothy 1.15).  Advent also reminds us that Jesus will come again, but it cautions us that His Second Coming will be to judge the world (2 Thessalonians 1. 7-9).  For those who are prepared, it will be a glorious day.  For those who do not know God it will be for them everlasting destruction.  Advent reminds us of the importance of being ready for that coming day.

If you want to be ready for Jesus at His Second Coming attend Church this Advent to find out how.

Saint George’s Celebrates Pentecost – 15th May, 2016

When the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  And there appeared unto them cloven  tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.  …  We do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.              Acts 2.1-11

O Heavenly Father, Who makest us glad with the yearly remembrance of the coming of the Holy Ghost upon Thy disciples at Jerusalem: Grant that we who celebrate before Thee this Feast of Pentecost may continue Thine for ever, and daily increase in Thy Holy Spirit more and more, until we come to Thine eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ our lord.  Amen.

After the service we celebrated the Feast of Pentecost with a cake designed and made especially for the occasion by our resident cake artist, Anna Belanger.

We also celebrated a birthday.  Looks like Peter was pleasantly surprised with his extra large peach tart.

Saint George’s celebrates the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.

It is with great respect that we offer our best wishes for a wonderful 90th birthday to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.  The Queen was born Princess Elizabeth on April 21, 1926, and has reigned through seven decades in Britain.

The people of our Parish gathered together to celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday on Rogation Sunday, the 1st of May 2016.  To mark our Queen’s milestone, Mrs Anna Belanger baked her a very beautiful and decadent chocolate cake.  We sang “Happy Birthday” to Her Majesty, we cut the birthday cake in Her Majesty’s honour, and drank to Her Majesty’s health.  Long live the Queen!

A Thanksgiving for the Long Reign of Queen Elizabeth II

By God’s grace, Her Majesty the Queen, Elizabeth the Second, has reigned longer than any other British sovereign in history.  As of the 9th September 2015, Her Majesty had reigned for 63 years 216 days as Queen of Canada and Great Britain, and the other fourteen Realms of our vast Commonwealth of Nations.  This surpasses the reign of her great-great-grandmother, Her Late Majesty Queen Victoria, the first Sovereign of our united Dominion of Canada.

We at Saint George’s marked this happy occasion with a special Mass of Thanksgiving as part of our regular Sunday worship on the 6th of September 2015. Following the Mass, we honoured Her Majesty with the traditional loyal toast and three cheers.

We thank God for having such a lovely, kind, and dutiful Christian woman as our Sovereign Lady, and Mother of the Nation, to reign over us in this wonderful country of ours.  It was God Almighty Who set Queen Elizabeth the Second upon the Throne of this Realm and we thank Him for this great blessing, and pray for her continued health and safety for years to come.
